Since I’ve told my boss I’m pregnant he has been really dismissive and it’s like he resents me, what should I do?

The law protects you from being unfairly treated as a result of you being pregnant. This includes dismissal on the grounds of being pregnant or a reason that is connected to your pregnancy.

It is advisable that you talk to your manager, as keeping him/her informed of your maternity leave, return date, antenatal appointments etc will be required. Always confirm this in writing or prove appointments with official documents. You will also be able to ask about any additional benefits the company may have and when you will have your risk assessment.

If you feel that your manager is treating you unfairly, try to resolve the issue with him/her first. If this is not possible, or it does not work, seek advice from your Human Resources department, senior Member of staff, Trade Union Representative, ACAS or Citizens Advice Bureau.
