Can I breastfeed my adopted baby?

Though this might seem a little far-fetched, the answer is yes. It IS possible to stimulate the breasts to produce milk for an adopted baby, even if you have never breastfed before.

You will need to get some expert advice from a breastfeeding counsellor or lactation specialist and you will need to plan well, but it is achievable. In fact, it is a fantastic way to bond you’re your new baby as well as all the other health benefits breastfeeding provides!

There is a helpful website which gives great advice and support at www.fourfriends.com/abrw, it’s written by a mother who breastfed her two adopted babies.
