It is generally not advised to use tampons until after your bleeding has stopped which usually takes about six weeks, although if you are breast feeding this may take longer. So, you could use tampons for your first period after the birth.

This is entirely up to you and your partner! It is perfectly normal to feel like having sex again quite soon after the birth of your baby, but it is also normal not to feel like it for months!
